Enable/Disable Subscribed Products
In this section you can activate or deactivate subscribed products globally. Once activated, you can create products with subscription properties at the product details page.

The following settings are available for subscribed products:

| Customers can cancel subscriptions anytime | If enabled, customers can cancel subscriptions through their account at the storefront, anytime. |
| Customers can change subscription periods anytime. | If enabled, customers can change their subscription period through their account at the storefront, anytime. This setting is for future use, since currently no subscription gateway offers the ability to change the payment period of an ongoing subscription. |
Press the “Save Changes” button at the bottom of the page, once you selected the desired option.
Subscribable products offer several additional properties that let you specify periods (“weekly”, “monthly”, “quarterly”, “halfyearly” and “yearly”) as well as a fee that is due, at the start of each period. You can also specify digital files, available for the subscriber, e.g. if you are selling the subscriptions to a digital publication, you can have digital files, customers can access after they login in their account.
When using subscribed products, make sure, to use payment gateways, that offer subscription options. Currently the following payment gateways offer subscription options:

| PayPal Adaptive Gateway | This gateway will switch from normal payments to preapproved payments when an order contains a subscribed product at checkout. |
| AuthorizeNet Recurring | This gateway is for subscribed products only. Currently, this gateway doesn’t support “normal” non subscribable products. This gateway should only be used additionally to a “normal” payment gateway, if non subscribable products are available. |
| PayPal Payflow Recurring | This gateway is for subscribed products only. Currently, this gateway doesn’t support “normal” non subscribable products. This gateway should only be used additionally to a “normal” payment gateway, if non subscribable products are available. |
| Other payment gateways | If a payment gateway is used, that doesn’t offer a subscribe functionality, subscriptions will be managed manually. |
