Notification Details

The notification details page is opened after a notification email item is selected at the notifications page. It allows you to edit the html and text versions of the templates for selected notification type.

Since almost all email notifications used in the shop use predefined data tags and smarty tags for information and some enhanced functionality, you must be extremely careful when editing these notification email templates.

Warning: Changing the smarty tags or the data tags may render the edited notification template and the notification itself nonfunctional!

Although a HTML editor is provided for the HTML notification template, it is best to edit the notification template in text mode, if available, since some HTML editors may change data tags.

The notification templates must be readable and writable to edit them through this page. The “emails” folder is located in your current skin folder:

e.g.: content/skins/your_selected_shop_skin/emails

You can also edit the email templates in an external editor by downloading them through your FTP software and re-uploading them after you edited them in the HTML/text editor of your choice.

Please note: We strongly recommend to keep a backup copy of the original notification email templates and restore the copies, if emails don’t trigger anymore after the notification email templates were edited.

The HTML notification section:

Use the HTML notification section to preview and edit the HTML version of the selected notification email template.

The text notification section:

Use the text notification section to preview and edit the text version of the selected notification email template.

  1. Click on the “Save Changes” button to save any changes to the email notification templates.
  2. Click on the “Notification Emails” button to go back to the notification emails page.
