Coupons offer you the ability to offer selected products for a discounted price and to create promotions that are only valid, if a customer uses a certain coupon code during checkout.
There are several different types of coupons, depending on the scope the discount is offered for:
Coupon Types:

| Global Promo Code | The promotion and the promo code is global and valid for all products |
| Product Promo Code | The promotion and the promo code is only valid for selected products |
| Primary Category Promo Code | The promotion and the promo code is only valid for selected products in the selected primary categories |
| Primary and Secondary Category Promo Code | The promotion and the promo code is only valid for selected products that are in the selected categories |
You can also set several other restrictions for the coupon codes, e.g. set a minimum purchase amount, exclude on sale items from the promotion, limit the promotion to certain vendors only, etc..
