Product Field Groups Details

At the product field groups details page you can setup your product custom field groups. The field groups are used to organize the product custom fields and also determine the availability of product custom fields.

The product field group settings form:

The product fields group settings form is used to either create a new product field group or to edit an existing product field group.

The following fields are available:

Option Description
Group ID The internal group ID number.
This number is generated automatically.
Vendor Determines if this group and it’s fields are globally available or are available for certain vendors only.
Group Name The name of the group. The group name will appear alongside the product fields in that group.
Default Group Fieldset Default group fieldsets extend the available product fields at the product details page by default. The group doesn’t need to be selected at the product details page to make the fields available for the product.

Please note: Any category settings for a default group fieldset will be discarded, since default group fieldsets can’t be limited by categories. Categories The group and its fields is only available, if the product’s primary category matches this category.

Click on the “Save Changes” button to save any changes to the group.

Click on the “Manage Field Groups” button to go back to the product custom fields management page.

Once a product field group is saved or if you are editing an existing group, you can create product custom fields for that group and edit existing fields.

The product fields list:

The product fields list shows detailed information about the custom product fields in the current group. It shows information about the form field name, the field caption, the type of the field (e.g. select box, text box, checkbox, textarea, etc.), if the field is currently active, if the field is a required field, and the sorting priority of this field.

The list also allows you to bulk update your custom product fields. You can edit the field name, field caption, if the field is active or not, if it is required and it’s sorting priority.

  1. Click on the “Save Changes” button below the list to bulk update any changes to the fields in that list.

  2. Click on the “Manage Field Groups” button to go back to the product custom fields management page.

  3. Click on the “Create Product Field” button to create a new product custom field.

Several other functions are available through the action icons on the right side of the list. Click on the edit icon to edit a product custom field, click on the delete icon to delete a product custom field.

Please note: Deleting a field will also delete any previously saved data for the fields at the product details page.
